About Me

Hi, I'm Roshen Nair. I'm a 19-year-old Computer Science student at Asia Pacific University in Malaysia, with a passion for learning about new technologies and building software.

If I were a clout-chaser, I'd say I've been coding since I was 15. However, a more accurate depiction would be to say that although I was exposed to some code around the age of 15 (a story for another day), I only really started learning to write software at the age of 17-18.

My primary focus for the past two years has been front-end web development i.e. HTML, CSS, JavaScript and the plethora of web technologies/frameworks that come with them. More recently, I've enjoyed exploring the realm of back-end development e.g. NodeJS, Docker, PostgreSQL.

Goals

So why am I starting this blog? Honestly, I was inspired after reading a freeCodeCamp article by Flavio Copes on why every every developer should start their own blog.

I've always secretly entertained the idea of writing about my own ideas and sharing them on a public platform, so this was all the encouragement I needed. Here are the 4 main reasons why I'm starting this blog:

  • It's an public outlet for me to share my ideas and theories with the developer community.
  • It's a way for me to document my learning process and the projects I build along the way.
  • It'll serve as an external motivator for me to consistently learn and improve my skills.
  • It'll help introduce me to like-minded individuals who share my passion for both learning and sharing what we learn with others.

A little disclaimer

We're all learning here and I'm pretty sure I'll make some mistakes along the way. It's all part of the process, and every mistake is an opportunity to learn and grow. If you notice a mistake in one of my posts/articles, be sure to let me know in the comments section or through one of my communication channels (check my profile). I'll be happy to make a credited update to a post with the proposed fixes if they're warranted.

TL;DR

This blog is a learning project of mine. Look forward to future posts (I'm still working on a proper posting schedule) and thanks for reading. If you want me to write about anything in particular, do let me know in the comments section below.
